MESOTHERAPY
Mesotherapy has been used for many years — particularly in France — as a method of delivering targeted nutrients directly into the skin.
The treatment works by gently ‘stimulating and nourishing’ the skin at a microscopic level, encouraging the natural production of collagen and supporting skin regeneration.
Through the careful selection of specific ingredients such as caffeine, artichoke extract and other metabolic compounds, mesotherapy can help improve microcirculation and promote lymphatic drainage. This makes it particularly effective in treating cellulite, loose skin and stretch marks during body treatments.
For optimal results, mesotherapy is most effective when performed as a course of 6–10 sessions. Areas that respond well to treatment include the scalp (for hair thinning or loss), as well as the face, neck, chest and various areas of the body.
PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP)
This treatment, which uses a small amount of the patient’s own blood as a natural healing agent, is widely established within mainstream medicine, including orthopaedic procedures such as joint replacement and in the treatment of burns through skin grafting.
Platelets contain powerful growth factors, and by injecting platelet-rich plasma (PRP) into fine lines and targeted areas, the process of collagen regeneration can be effectively stimulated. PRP may also be applied directly to the skin during microneedling (skin-roller) treatments, producing impressive rejuvenating results. The blood is taken from the patient and processed in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the plasma, which contains platelets and a small number of stem cells. A local anaesthetic (lignocaine) is added to encourage the release of growth factors immediately prior to treatment.
PRP is commonly used by aesthetic practitioners on the face and neck, chest area, and the backs of the hands. It is particularly effective for rejuvenating the delicate skin of the lower eyelids, with minimal downtime. A typical 12-week treatment programme consists of one PRP session combined with microneedling, followed by two additional microneedling treatments.
